  1. Will I be able to install my gas lantern indoors?

All natural gas and propane gas lanterns equipped with either electronic ignition or automatic shutoff valve are C.S.A. Certified to comply with ANSI Standard Z21.42 for indoor or outdoor use.
  2. What material is used to make Legendary Lighting lanterns?

All Legendary Lighting lanterns are constructed of 16 oz., 20 oz. and 32 oz. copper.  Double strength glass is standard.
  3. How many BTUs per hour will natural gas and propane lanterns use?

Series 1 & 2 natural gas lanterns use 3451 BTUs per hour; series 3 natural gas lanterns use 4854 BTUs per hour.  Series 1 & 2 propane gas lanterns use 2800 BTUs per hour; series 3 propane gas lanterns use 4854 BTUs per hour.
  4. Can I turn off my gas lantern?

Yes, all natural gas and propane gas lanterns include a shut-off valve located at the base of the burner; lanterns made without the electronic ignition option are designed to burn continuously.  Lanterns equipped with electronic ignition can be turned on and off with the flip of a switch or can be operated with a timer or photo electronic cell allowing control over burn time.
  5. What can I do to prevent wind from blowing out my gas lantern?

Our patented Wind Guard (U.S. Patent No. 6,468,072) is available as an option for high wind areas; however, all post mount models come equipped with a Wind Guard.  If the lantern is equipped with electronic ignition, the lantern will re-light in the event the flame is blown out.
  6. What size gas piping should my plumber use?

All lanterns are plumbed to accept ¼” OD copper tubing with flare fitting.
  7. Do Legendary Lighting lanterns comply with “dark sky” ordinances?

Legendary Lighting open flame burners do not emit enough light to be measurable.  The open flame burner is suitable for areas that recognize “dark sky” ordinances as it does not create light pollution.
